Julie earned a B.A. in Environmental Studies and Community Development from The Evergreen State College and received Honours in Secondary Science Education from Wits University in Johannesburg, South Africa. She completed her Waldorf Training and Teacher Certification from Parsifal College in Sydney, Australia. Following six years teaching environmental education at various centers around the U.S. and abroad, Julie joined the faculty of the Marin Waldorf School in Northern California. She was the class teacher to two groups of children during her eight years in Marin. After a year-long sabbatical filled with traveling and writing her first book, she and her husband moved to the Roaring Fork Valley and welcomed their daughter.

Julie circled back, after bringing her last class through 5th grade at WSRF, to carry the next group of 1st graders forward.
