December News (December 8th, 2023)

....open our doors every day and deliver a dynamic, ever-evolving Waldorf Curriculum here in the Roaring Fork Valley. What is the Annual Fund & why does it matter so much? This absolutely critical fundraising effort is how, as a non-profit organization receiving zero government funding, WSRF bridges the annual gap between tuition revenue and operating expenses. Tuition revenue covers only about 75% of costs associated with delivering the life changing curriculum at WSRF. Every element at WSRF is impacted by the annual fund.

So far this school year, 100% of WSRF Faculty, Staff and Board Members have already contributed to 23/24 Annual Fund.

Our goal is to match this with 100% Current Family participation by the end of 2023!

A donation today to WSRF is tax-deductible and can be claimed on your 2023 tax-return. Plus: donations to WSRF may be eligible for the Child Care Contribution Tax Credit (CCCC). This unique public / private partnership allows individuals and businesses to claim a 50% state income tax credit for qualified contributions to child care providers. Meaning you may be able to double the impact of your gift to WSRF! Learn more here

Please help us meet our Annual Fund Goal by the end of 2023 and give a donation today that impacts every element of WSRF.

From music to tech, don’t miss out on the many different ways to get involved with our community, learn new things, see our students in action and so much more!

The Fourth Grade is opening their Winter Wonderland Shop on Wednesday, December 13 and Thursday, December 14, at snack and at lunch recesses for grades 1-8 students in our classroom. There will be handmade holiday gifts, such as candles, ornaments, keychains, jewelry, and window stars, along with healthy holiday treats to purchase. Prices range from 25¢ to $3. Cash only, thanks!

The students are excited to practice their cashier skills AND to raise funds to rent a bounce house to share with all the grades students during the last week of school (as the Class of 2027 did in in the 2020-21 school year), and to donate to the Family Resource Center in Carbondale.

We hope your child(ren) didn’t purchase all their holiday gifts at the wonder-filled Angel Room last weekend and will come with some of their hard-earned cash to buy some of our love-filled items!

Greetings WSRF Community,

Voces Unidas is the organizing effort behind supporting the Venezuelan refugees who recently arrived in Carbondale. They are gathering clothing and supplies and organizing people interested in preparing and delivering breakfast and dinner to the Third Street Center.

A group of Waldorf families has taken up the opportunity to serve dinner for 60 on December 17th. We will be roasting and serving a pig roast dinner for the refugees. Anyone interested in contributing time or resources toward this effort is invited to reach out to Robynn Dorffi, 323-707-8735. All are welcome to help prep and serve. Please join us in sharing a warm welcome and providing a delicious meal!

Mike Jones is an early pioneer in social media, founding Userplane in 2001, one of the largest chat, instant messaging, and presence networks powering most of the early social media platforms. After selling Userplane to AOL he was appointed CEO of MySpace and an early advisor and investor to most of today's modern social media platforms including TikTok and Snap. He currently is the founder of Science Ventures, a company creation fund focused on consumer and digital sectors. Mike is also a WSRF alumni parent.

This parent conversation is not to be missed and is open to parents with children of all ages. No RSVP required. Do you have specific questions for Mike?
